May 17 2008: First Federated Church Mystery Dinner - An evening that promises to be entertaining. The mystery is: you are given a list of clues and you must decipher if the clues are food, drink or utensils. There are three courses served. Each course must be finished before the next one is served and if you don't guess correctly, you might receive all your food before you get any of your utensils. It is fun watching others trying to figure out how to eat something like plain butter with no bread or soup with no spoon. Save the date and join in the fun. May 31 2008: Yard Sale, Car Wash and Chicken Barbecue at First United Methodist of Hudson — In conjunction with the Hudson Community Fest, First United Methodist Church of Hudson invites all to our Giant Yard Sale, rain or shine from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, in the church parking lot. In addition to the yard sale, our Youth sponsored car wash will leave your car sparkling! Our annual Chicken Barbecue will be served from 11:00 – 2:00 pm. Tickets are available at the church’s booth at the Town Hall or you can pay at the church: $8.00 adults; $6.00 seniors; $6.00 children under 12; $30.00 maximum per family. Jun 7 2008: Opening Festivities at South Street Park, Hudson - Grand opening of the newly re-designed South Street Park in downtown Hudson from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. when there will be a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony, musical entertainment, food booths, face painting and children’s activities. Twice as large as the original area, the South Street Park now includes a new splashpad, a gazebo, a skateboard area, a bocce court and, beginning July 12, a free weekly afternoon family entertainment series being presented by the Arts Alliance and the Hudson Park Commission, Division of Recreation and sponsored by Wal-Mart, St. Mary’s Credit Union and Digital Federal Credit Union. The schedule of events for opening day is: 10 a.m. - ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony; 10:15-10:45 a.m. - Hudson High School Jazz Ensemble; 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. - rock and roll dance music by Still in the Cellar. We’ll be reuniting singers past and present for our anniversary celebration on June 15. We’ll be singing two favorites that we know well: “In This Very Room,” and “Love Grows Here.” You’ll only need to join Choir Rehearsal for one Thursday, June 12. Jun 23 2008: Teens Interested in Working Backstage in Theater - An intensive, hands-on workshop for area teens interested in learning technical theater skills. Hudson High School Auditorium, 69 Brigham Street. Students entering grades 8-13 will learn about scenic, costume and lighting design, in support of the summer productions of “Anything Goes,” “Disney’s Mulan Jr.,” and/or “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” The Technical Theater workshop will meet weekdays 1:30-4:30 p.m. until July 17 with instructors Nan Kaipainen Gibbons and Nick Cooper. On going Section of Assabet River Rail Trail to be closed - Due to construction of the Main Street Bridge in Hudson, starting April 30th, MassHighway will close a portion of the Assabet River Rail Trail from approximately Priest St. in front of Hudson Dairy Joy to a point east of the existing Main Street Bridge across from the Whispering Pines Condominium. Neither the trail nor sidewalk in this area will be accessible to pedestrians or bicycles until further notice. For more info contact MassHighway at: 978-562-6505.    
On going Town of Hudson "Buy a Brick" fundraising campaign - The town is expanding South Street Park to include a Skateboard Park, Splash Park and areas for picnicking and relaxing. Help build a new tot playground with "Buy a Brick". $50 donors get a 4" X 8" engraved brick and $100 donors get a 8" X 8" engraved brick. On going The Hudson Site Amenities Donation Program - Individual citizens or corporations may make a donation to the town, which is tax deductible. The donation will go towards the purchase, shipping, and installation, including a personalized plaque, of site amenities such as a bench, game table, picnic table, bike rake, tree and more. Site amenities will be placed at the new canal walk and the South Street Park expansion.
